Perhaps you can try Prime, I don't know what their hiring area is, they don't have one listed on their website, so I guess that maybe good for you. Their home terminal is in Springfield, MO. They have their Campus Inn you stay at while there and it is nice, and meals. You make $600. a week while out with your trainer, don't let this influence you though. Company drivers are in the lightweight trucks, they are governed and they look for fuel mileage. Don't look to get home for 4 - 6 weeks usually while you are in training.

Anyway they have a school, you have to put in 1yr driving for the loan to be paid off. You have classroom instruction, simulator driving, and then go out with a trainer for a period of time.
You will need w2's for the last 2 yrs. 10 yrs of work history. Clean driving record, etc.
They say it is better to get the permit from your state first before coming. You will also have to have money for the passport and twic card.
There are other training schools out there also, Schneider, Werner, don't know how good or bad they are, but do stay away from CR England unless it is the last resort. -
Call driving schools and explain your situation. You need money for tuition, lodging and food. If there is money available they will know where to find it. Schneider no longer has a school. They hire students from a list of approved driving schools.

-
Who's that?

Smith and Solomon is a trucking school in Philadelphia.
Libertytowm I feel your pain dude, I'm down and out also.....but I bit the bullet and applied to the company sponsored programs, and as of today they are all starting to call me back. The way I look at it is this. They train me for my cdl, i work for them for a year, and I can go from there at that point.
Sounds like you have some experience, but it's only a year, and you will have your cdl, and then go on from there.
I'm over in the Philly area, Swift is interested in me.....wonder why no interest in Jersey?
Central Refrigerated, USA Truck, Prime, Wil Trans all have Jersey highlighted on their hiring maps.......
