Is there no allowance for break downs? Seems a rather harsh thing to do to someone based on what happened.

The rate con is your gospel out here. It says what you get paid, when/how things are to be done, and the consequences of failure on your part. As soon as there was adequate cell to call a mechanic, the customer and broker should have been notified. Sounds like at the end of the day you're going to have to eat this 1.

I used speech to text, my husband would never post or ask for opinion online. I apologize if it was hard to read. I’m just confused and I’m tired of getting yelled at by the shipper and broker, I figured I’d ask the internet for advice,,,,

There's some areas in WY, SD, ND, (those western states) where you have large areas of deadzone. However, they didn't cover all of their bases.
Those allowances can only be made if people are notified in a timely manner. You always notify all parties involved, and let each subsequent call include that you spoke to the other person as well. Never trust anyone else to handle your business, it may benefit them to burn you.

It depends on the broker and rate con. I did some airfreight out of JFK that was $250 if more than 30min late and $50 every 15min after that. The only thing that would pause it was a road shut down.

From what you said, he called the broker, the customer wasn't notified which he was angry about. Paraphrasing but "pointed at his cellphone yelling", means not all bases were covered.

They don’t believe that we broke down, and it’s al
I get it now, the broker failed to notify the customer, but we should have done that as well, it’s a very expensive learning experience.
