Cant help you I am a newbie also. Just curious as to where you are going to school and if you like it, do they have job placement or pre hire placement?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
When I talked to Millis recruiter a couple months ago, you have to go to their cdl school or have experience.

If you can't find any info how did you get their name?

Correct web site: http://cttransportation.com/index.cfm
CSA score: http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/carrier.aspx?enc=tJixZx6ZlmU=
About 400 trucks. 54% Vehicle Maintenance. So, kinda high. HOS kinda high, 57.5%. Apparently very strict on safe driving, though. 3.5%, which is great.
Quite a few high point inspections. 78 points 9/18/13 and OOS. 90 points 8/28/13 and OOS. 75 points 8/19/13 and OOS. 24 points 8/13/13 and OOS (tail lamp). 30 points 8/7/13 and OOS (flat tire). 30 points 8/4/13 and OOS (flat tire). Hard to get a job somewhere else with those points, even if they don't follow to next carrier. And they stay 3 yrs.
DOT GA (also MD) may have them in their sights. Somebody pissed somebody off who mattered, especially in GA. Or the trucks are bad. Or both. No excuse for numerous HOS violations. Driver training? Carrier cavalier attitude? Interesting CSA and some driver here knows what's going on. Speak up!!
FREQUENTLY cited for HOS in GA. Lots of citations. Mainly form and manner (could be abbreviating city name or some other nit pick) How do you get 3.5% Unsafe Driving and all these HOS citations? That's not typical. Usually Unsafe % and HOS % go hand in hand. So drivers are EXTRA careful but hit hard on logs possibly for little things; are trucks unsafe????? 14 reportables in 2013 does not seem too high for 400 trucks. A few in GA. Something going on.
See: http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/BASICs.aspx?enc=kwE/sv30GhW/FArvc6Cr9g==
/Gordon with 21.3% Vehicle Maintenance and 2000 trucks has 41 reportables in 2013. With 400 trucks and 14 reportables, x 5 = 70 reportables if as large as Gordon (400 vs 2000 trucks). Nothing conclusive there. Somebody in GA doesn't like somebody, I think.Last edited: Oct 13, 2013
JakeBrakeRem, TruckDuo and pattyj Thank this. -
Stay away from McElroy. They don't care about their drivers, safety, or HOS.
JakeBrakeRem Thanks this. -

CT Transport is the flatbed division of Comcar; financially strong company known for lower pay in flatbed; mostly East Coast & Southeast.
You will make much more money with Maverick; Maverick has APU's & a weekend home program if you're interested that.
Also consider Melton Truck Lines and Howard Transportation.
Hopefully others can give more info on your other choices.ashltn and JakeBrakeRem Thank this.
