Do Roehl Hire any women? And if so is the pre-screening really all that bad?

Very helpful if you have $10 that you don't need! (that's the "student driver" price!

As far as hiring "women", last I checked there are laws preventing anyone from excluding a potential hire based on gender. Now proving that you weren't hired because you are female might be difficult, especially in court.

Some companies encourage females to apply. Generally, any of them that do "gobment" work, women and minorities are always welcome.

Then there are others that think that women don't belong in the trucking industry, especially behind the wheel. They may just pass you over and never tell you why, or they have physical tests that are generally hard for a female that has less than stellar upper body strength (some of the tests are prejudiced toward older males in the same way).

Age is an issue. If you are still of the childbearing years, that can be big red flag for them, as they don't want to be responsible for you as an pregnant employee in a potentially dangerous job, not to mention the burden to their health insurance (if offered). No one will ever admit to this openly unless they are morons.

Any company that you ask will answer in the affirmative to your question for fear of lawsuit, or state labor enforcement consequences.

Weather you actually can get trained and hired is up to you, your potential and determination.

Roehl does hire female drivers, as does most any other trucking company. You just need to have the upper body strength to lift those tarps up onto your load. (and a lot of shippers will forklift them up there for you...I know,I used to drive a flatbed.)

Good luck, and don't let anyone/anything stand in the way of getting where ya wanna get!

As long as you can move any part of your body without saying "ouch" then you'll be fine :biggrin_2559: Of course Roehl hires women!
