Question...when you look at a companies safety stats. What do you consider good safety statistics?

What do I consider good, or what does DOT consider good? What I consider doesn't matter nearly as much as what DOT does.

The only way it really matters to the driver is it reflects the amount of times you're likely to be pulled around back at a scale. Also, if the company you're driving for has PrePass, you'll get more red lights than green if they have a high safe stat. Which means you'll have to actually cross the scale more often and therefore increase the risk of being inspected.

    Okay,

Day 1: I arrived at 7:30 the class was supposed to start at 8. Trainer was late by a half hour. I took tests all day long pretty much and watched 2 videos that lasted about 2 hours. I am the only one in my "training" class. There are 4 other guys who are in training at various different levels. 1 guy went to take his final test last week and failed. Another 2 guys can't pass their permit tests. I passed all of their tests with flying colors and they want to take me down either tomorrow or Wed and test me for my permit because they say that I can pass already. Most of their freight is North east and my "instructor" told me they reserve most of their long haul loads for "teams". Sucks....!!! Also you can't take your truck home it has to stay at the terminal and they slipseat. I'm considering waiting a few more months and maybe going with a more established company such as Schneider, or CRST. I'm not getting a bad vibe with this company yet. I like the owner. Mr. Parnell, he doesn't believe in the Qualcomm system because he says that if he can't trust his drivers to do right then they don't need to be employed by him. He said he isn't in the business of babysitting and that's what the Qualcomm units do. Also their trucks are not governed. I'm treading cautiously though still with this company. So, Day 1 is down, still got 27 to go.

    Invest another 27 days.
I really don't see what's wrong with the picture.
    No Qualcomm?
    No governed Big trucks?
    No baby sitting?

    No problem. :biggrin_25512:
    IMO.

Thanks Shock. They have a girl who has been with them for 1 year and she made $55K. So they do have the freight. So I will stick it out.
