    Hi, all.

Need any info on the tractor in this picture, such as the size, well, really interested in the length of the cargo and was hoping to figure it out if I can find the OAL or wheelbase of the tractor.

As you can see, the blade on the back is HUGE! It was on its way to a wind farm in the Mojave desert, in the picture it is westbound on Jawbone Canyon, which runs off Hwy 14 north of Hwy 58 here in California.

My daughter's class at school saw the picture, and they really want to know how long the blade is, so now I'm on the hook!:biggrin_25525:

I googled windmill blade length and most of the larger ones are around 130 ft to 150 ft.

Seems the hanging part is about 1/3rd the length of the trailer. So if it's a 48' then it would be about 64' long. Or is that double-flats?

The wheel base on that T800 KW is probably about 240 inches. I held a pen up to my screen to find the 240 length on my pen, then held it to the wing, and I got 5 times the length. 240" x 5 = 1200 inches = 100 foot

I say the wing is 100 feet long

The tractor is a Kenworth T-800, with what looks to be the heavy duty package, that has the wider hood and larger radiator. It appears to have a detachable 60" sleeper, and appx 245-250" wheelbase.

Man, I'm getting all kinds of answers, but I had to resizee the picture down to post it. The original was 1600x1200, and I came up with the below results:

2.375" for the truck wheelbase, 11.5 inches for the blade length. That equals 4.84 ratio wheelbase to blade.
By my math and the larger picture, it's between 95 ft given a 245" wheelbase and 105 feet if it's a 265" wheelbase.

So, a big thumbs up to Winchester Magnum for the best guess, and another big thumbs up for all the help from everyone!

Here's one more picture of another one I saw when I was at the top of the hillclimb on my dirtbike and first saw it, the tiny white dot behind is a full size Ford pickup.

They were hauling these in all day long, must have seen 4 or 5 of them.

I have to say roadmedic is the closest in dimensions. I have seen these things either by passing them or at a truck stop and they just shadow a big rig.

The ones I deal with are 120'-125' depending on manufacturer. They are transported on specialized Trail King trailers designed to support the whole blade.

    Ducks Thanks this.
