Moloko, maybe you can look at finding a customer whose schedule is a good fit for your plans. If you allow a reasonable time span for finding that customer, 1 - 1 1/2 years. Until then, good luck and I hope you find a reliable truck. New or used, it's a crap shoot, but new costs a lot more. Running loads is where the reality is, all you can. Have some money available to protect your future and your ability to roll miles.

Some great comments in here already, and you can mine the forum for hundreds of other good facts. Best.

Funny you say that Rollin coal. My buddies lost a lot of money running against 4x4 diesel trucks . All you see is black smoke and hearing them shifting gears sounding like something's gonna break. Next you'll see 10 and 11 second passes

Hurst comment: "Thats my whole dilemma. I really love trucking. I love the road, I love the serenity of being alone sometimes. But after about 5 - 10 days away from home, I start to get home sick. I miss my wife, I miss my dogs, I miss my friends, I miss all the stuff I have at home, sadly everything I have is expensive. All my hobbies are obscenely expensive,.. so with out hitting the road and being homesick all the time,. I wouldnt have anything. Its a catch 22."

Me too. Exactly. When I'm home I look forward to going out, work on my truck, gather supplies, and once I'm rolling, a couple of loads and I'm going the other way, wanting to get back. I guess that's the way trucking works. Maybe if I was younger it would be different, but I'm old enough to have a life, and it's just going to be that way. I sure make a lot more income when I'm out for 3 or 4 weeks straight. I like to run on the recap, no reset. I was thinking about that, maybe do a reset, go fishing or watch a race somewhere, you know, enjoy myself a little more while I'm alone? I'll let you know how that works out!
