The hard copy for backup is KEY! I had all that -- job history, dates, contact info on the computer and had printed out copies, but the hard drive on the computer died, I lost all the information and couldn't put my hand on one single printout I had made. I had to reconstruct all that info from old resumes and parts of resumes, w-2's and other various paperwork I located. What a job! The dates are as close as I can come and the contact info was reconstructed by searching on the internet etc. I have multiple copies in a file in a lock box and 'that's my story and I'm sticking to it'! I know some of the dates may be off by a month or two, but putting this stuff together is tougher than many companies seem to think. Like others have said, I can't tell you what I had for breakfast today let alone if I started a job in August or September of 2002 -- may have been October! But, I am figuring if I am consistent, then I won't have too many problems. Like others have said, they just want to know that you've been doing something -- not in prison. I've also read in other posts that the requirement for such extensive work histories is to ensure that you haven't been driving during that time. As long as you have been working, and can explain that the frequency of your movement is a standard in that industry -- seasonal, dependent on the economy (new construction), etc, it won't be a problem. Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress.

i hate the 10 year work history thing, I got married about 3 years ago and was basicly a house wife toke care of my ex step kids and didnt work for a few years, now im going threw a divorce and working now, I hope most companys can see that, and understand the gap.

it is crazy that an ex-felon can get a job fresh out of prison driving a truck but i am having trouble only (i guess) because of job history!!

only chance of going to school locally now is swift or covenant.
if not, i called driver solutions and gave recruiter some more info. i have to call him back tomorrow at 4 after he runs my DMV and criminal history

if your tolerance for BS is nill, you might want to rethink a career in trucking because this industry takes BS to a whole new level.

i heard that ,but the times they are a changin' (my times that is)
i put up with alot through my years of HVAC most of it at the beginning when i didnt' know any better. and was young and didn't realize what the benefits of staying at the same job awhile were. i was just chasing the paycheck then and had a screw you attitude if i got mad. i like to think i have grown up a LITTLE (maybe)

If you are set on trucking, you will get in. Everyone has to jump through hoops to start, but you can improve your chances. If you can afford it go to a local vo tech and get your CDL. The level of instruction is much greater and once you have the CDL all the recruiter who didn't want to talk to you will fall all over themselves to hire you. Plus you won't have to sign a ridiculous contract.
