I am doing some research on becoming an owner operator leased onto my company and I have a good question. How often do you do your pm on your truck? As a company driver I have noticed that it is not done very often. Oil change every 60k, had the same truck for eight months and never changed filters or anything other then two oil changes. Just seemes to be a bit to long to wait. I have heard oil changes at 20k and greasing every 10k but that is about it. I am trying to come up with a realistic budget so I can see if owner op is a viable option.

Here we do "A" service at 12,500 and "B" service at 25,000. First is filters only then B is oil too. They have "C" in there too which is just air filter. Fuel filters swapped with oil filters.

Good info thank you. I figured it would be like that. Here is another good question. Do you do the work yourself or take it in to a mechanic and what is the average out of pocket? Like I said trying to look into some realistic figures. I just got my first pm done on the truck I drive (only have had it two months) and it was $290 for an ultimate pm at TA.

Find a small shop close to home .. Or do it your self.

Don't let a truck stop touch it .

Wherever you do your service try to keep it at the same place every time so you can monitor wear. Like stated above try to stay away from truck stops.

Thank you for the advice. I will treat the truck stop like I do any Jiffy lube or places like that. Avoid them like the plague. I have a good car mechanic at home that I've gone to for years so ill have to see if he does this kinda work or can recommend someone.
