So I got tangled up with a toyota this week. No one got hurt, the toy got totaled. My truck is being reviewed if they are going to fix or total it. My question is, I was not at fault for the wreck, I received no tickets. The other driver on the other hand got a few. (Reckless endangerment, excessive speed, illegal lane usage off the top of my head.) Will I get any points on my licence for this? How bad could this effect my chances @ another company should I decide to change employers? The logical side of me said I have nothing too worry about. The newbie trucker side of me said everyone's out to get me lol.

Well, my take, if I were in your position, is that if the company I worked or any future prospective employers held me accountable for which you clearly are not to blame, then I would not waste the least bit of concern for them, and instead, move on. Reckless Endangerment... that person was out of control, they were going to hit something, and it just happened to be you. Glad you are uninjured.

As to points, no points for you, that requires a citation for points against your license.

I had a friend in this scenario, but had a big truck do this to him. The company we were at counted it as a non avoidable accident. In his case it was a "in house" classification with no implications out side of the company.... well except when he was applying to other companies. The company we worked for mentioned he was involved in an accident and is a safety hazard, but the hiring company saw through that bs when they checked his dac. But like baba said, get the report c.y.a.

Like the baha said build a file get the acc report and pictures ask your company to inform you of the settlement. the settlement should show how much the 4 wheelers insurance paid to fix your truck. the data will clear you.

I was in an accident last September. I was not at fault. No injuries, other party's car was totaled. I got a copy of my MVR yesterday and that accidents not on it. Not sure if that's just how it works or if I just got lucky.

Did this accident occur while driving a commercial vehicle or personal vehicle? You mentioned your truck may get totaled, so I assume you mean a pickup truck, since a Toyota is not likely to total a class 8 vehicle. If in a personal vehicle, and not cited, then this will not hurt future employment. I am sure your auto insurance company will subrogate all the damages to your vehicle with the other party and reimburse you any deductibles you may pay.

No it was my rig, sorry for the confusion. Not my personal vehicle. And the Toyota did some serious damage believe it or not. Sheared off my right corner of my bumper, busted the right front coil springs in half, broke the steer axle and drove my right steer tire almost back to my passenger fuel tank. The tank got punctured from some bolts pushed back into it. (Thankfully I was running with 3/4 full tank. puncture was above my fuel lvl so no hasmat spill or epa involvement.) Right front leaf springs were spread out like a fan, the Ubolts bent about 30 degs. And my hood being the crappy old fiberglass it was, shattered and broke apart on that corner. All told, the wrecker quoted about 14 grand to get on the road again, parts and labor. Since my company is updating their fleet, and my truck was one of the old ones, (2007 international 9400i), I'm guessing they are going to replace it and call it a total. The wrecker did mention he was going to buy it if it was totaled. Hell I only had 600k on it, just got broke in lol.

Keep any and all documentation from this crash for years to come. Since this involved vehicle(s) being towed from the scene, it will be considered a DOT recordable crash. Involvement in a DOT recordable crash will be on your PSP for 5 years.
