That sucks! I had LASIK done back in 2003 or so. I was a career firefighter and paramedic at the time. I went with the best most experienced company in Utah (Hoopes Vision)..... It cost more and at the time I paid extra for the laser to cut the flap over cornea as the standard at that time was using micro-scopic blades instead and my research showed most complications were from the flap not the actual LASIK.

But I remember how nervous it makes you when you sign the authorization for surgery and read all the fine print that says "a complications could be blindness".... And I couldn't hold drs responsible.

Been best thing I've done. Recently my left eye is loosing some clarity and will probably go be reassessed by same company for possible update.

I had lasik done on both eyes back in 2000. When I got off that chair, the difference was amazing. I could see the butt hairs on a housefly from 20 feet away!

Fast forward 15 years. My eyes started to revert back to how they were before surgery. So I went to the same doctor and he suggested that I just redo one eye this time. The reason was to keep one eye to see far, and one to see near. So that is where I'm at. But I can't read a lick up close. I have to use reading glasses. And even then, my eyes really start to ache after awhile.

The original reason that I got it done in the first place was so I could play ball at night without having to wear goggles. If I could do it all over again, I would have NEVER got it done. My eyes just don"t feel right.

Wow! And here I was just gonna start doing research on it. So much for that idea I guess.

Yeah, short-term it's awesome. What is your reason for getting it done? Can you live without it? Remember, the last time I did it was 11 years ago. Maybe technology has gotten better? In either case, if you don't HAVE to do it, then don't.

I can do without...just that glasses are a pain in the arse. Wore contacts for 5 years but that wasn't what I expected either. Now I need reading glasses and prescription sunglasses.
