MM he replaces the oil every 12K, and ill check on the fuel filter. When I get up there in may I'll know for sure and post results. As for the muffler, where did you pick it up at. He just replaced the radiator. The truck has 650K.

here is the same type muffler that p.p. sells. it is a straight thru design. no baffles. I ordered one & it took 10 days to get to me. the best price I have found. truck pro sells them for 129.95.

it's not the same muffler but it's the same idea. straight through. I thought they were the same but after comparing them they are different. I can only vouch for the economy gained from the PP unit as it's the only one I've used
The Challenger Thanks this. -
MM will know more about this than I do.
But isn't most of the MPG problem that 14L egr engine?
Not much can be done about that. The Challenger Thanks this. -
yes the big problem is the EGR system on the 14L.
and actually PDI can now tune the EGR and the VNT turbo out of the ecm. You have to buy the ecm tune and you have to buy a stage 2 turbo. So for about $5k you have a non egr 14L detroit with around 750hp and should get about 7.5 mpg -
After these mods, is the truck Cali legal??? My boss does a lot of Cali as his business is based there. Those mods seem to be great. I appreciate the information you have contributed. I learn something new everyday and this has me grinning.

i have a question i have the cat c13 is this a egr engine or not
-
cat doesn't use an EGR, they use the twin turbo setup to force more air in to get a better burn rather then recirculating exhaust back into the cyl trying to get more of it to burn which is what the EGR does. Your cat likely does have a huge cateletic converter underneath the truck though and it's highly restrictive. Removing it free's up the exhaust but it also voids the warrenty if you have any left
KH, no its not emission legal. Nothing is if you want to get technical. The free flowing mufflers is an axhaust system modification which is technicly illegal too.The Challenger Thanks this. -
If he has a dpf c13 it has egr. 08+
