The article stated: " Nearly a third of the world's population is infected with the bacterium that causes tuberculosis, although active TB only develops in a fraction of those cases."
I had a positive TB skin test in 1982 when we applied to be a "licensed day care home". I thought I may have been exposed to TB during an eight-hour student trip that I had conducted during the previous winter. The job applicant/student kept coughing and coughing. I was "trapped" in a day-cab with this guy for eight hours. He did not get the job, and I never saw him again. I took Isoniozid for one year under supervision of the County Health Department to help my immune system contain the TB. X-rays showed there was never an active case of TB, but I will always test positive.
