Like $400 a week if that... I live with my dad, no kids, divorced, house is payed for.. no bills except my car payment and phone bill... so that covers that.. Car is in my dads name so we kept the insurance in his name and added me as an occasional driver since I am on the road all the time.

Even at around $20k a year wages, then taxes .70cpm still seems rather low...

It's not about what I want. It's your truck and operation. What's your fuel cpm for the year?

You'll never make it being the cheapest guy on the block. You need to find another way to stand out to succeed.

Almost all our jobs are quoted dollar amounts, for both our trucking and machinery moving. Here lately, I've been getting almost every new customer I've quoted. While it's nice to have a lot of new customers, that tells me I'm quoting too cheap for the current market and need to raise my prices. Lots of my regular customers, I expect to get those jobs, and if the quote sounds reasonable to them they usually won't get other quotes. Most new customers are at least getting 2 or more quotes, if I get over 75% of them, I figure I'm quoting too cheap. On the same token, if I'm hardly getting any of the new customer quotes, I'll start lowering my prices a little if I need the work. All of this is just playing the market.
