Planning to get my CDL this summer. Currently in so cal but plan to get rid of my apt and claim a friends address in Texas as my residence. I would like to do Chemical tanker if possible. I want to be OTR 2-3 months or more at a time. Drive all over the country. From reading about on this forum, it seems it's mostly short OTRs...am I wrong?
Possible to be long term OTR with tanker?

Length of haul depends on who you drive for and there customer base. I know guys pulling tanks doing 2300 miles a week. And I know guys doing 3500 a week. It's your choice in what your looking for

Most chemical tank companies have some local, some regional and some drivers that run the system which is otr. How much of each can depend on what terminal you run out of.

Most companies will let you stay out all year if you want too. As long as they have the loads to keep you moving. You don't want to sit in a truck stop for 2 or 3 days between loads.

Unless you are hired on to do a dedicated account, I would say any tanker company with a decent footprint will keep you running as long as you like.

If you're moving to Texas, oilfield service companies will train you for your cdl. I got mine with Halliburton. Next year jumped to crude hauling and today I pull chemicals. Eleven years and counting.
