Been talking to a recruiter off and on for a couple weeks and bit the bullet. They are running my background and MVR and if I get the clear I should be heading into training soon. Not sure how long it will be before I head to the terminal to start class but I am pretty excited to be bringing in some bacon again.

Any tips on what I should bring? I was going to pickup a cheap pair of waterproof steel toe boots if I get the green light.

Haha ramen noodle packs or cup o noodles?
Flashlights check Ill order a couple.
Work gloves, check I can hit Walmart for some cheap ones.
Bag and pillow check I have those already.

Bit the bullet on Swift, Knight was the other one but they make you go to Phoenix now and you have to pay for transport there and hotel/food and transport while there. I was like yeah not happening and your still charging 3grand for class.

I personally wouldn't buy steel toe, your going to be sitting for the majority of the day, and I wouldn't buy cheap boots at that... 11 hours of driving your going to want something comfortable... spend the extra money.

Every company I've worked for required steel toed boots; even the reefer companies. Slipon style are best.
Get some comfortable driving shoes so you don't have to wear the boots except when at shippers/receivers.

I'm complete opposite I've never had a company require boots of any kind, just shoes... no sandals...

I would not be wearing the boots while driving heh. They would be for outside the truck say snow/ice chaining up stuff like that. I'm frugal its how I was raised, I could make $2000 a week and I would still choose the cheap shoes if they feel fine to me :p

The most I ever splurged on a pair of shoes was because I go hiking a lot so I bought a pair of Merrel trail shoes and they were $140 that was 3 years ago and I still wear them daily. I did put some gel inserts in them though.
