Great scenery in Colorado but prefer total red states. I live in Oregon and while southern and eastern is terrific enough to retire to. The state is pretty much run by Portland.
Possibly moving to Colorado Springs. Need job advice.

Colorado springs is a trap for trucking. I prefer to play in Denver downtown when I head that way. Even Raton checks with portables. I rather have a medical procedure done instead.
With that said, I think Denver is a better market for truckers. Tons of work. I used to spend days grabbing from this cold storage transfer to another one down the street. Get paid something for the day until some long haul finally comes up. Ive been lucky in denver. It was also a place to time off. There used to be a laser facility for combat on days off with the locals there in Thorton. And of course there is Johnny's up towards Cheyenne that is a good stop.
CO to me is meat country usually. But we would toss whatever we needed into that trailer.
I don't have any jobs for you out of CO Springs, that's NORAD Land.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
To the OP, have you tried looking at Google for trucking companies out of springs?
Have you considered wife working in springs, you working in Denver, and finding a place in Castle Rock? That way you split the commute and it's not too bad for either one. Or Monument. Or whatever else has grown up there. -
Quite a few local/regional carriers in the Springs, FirstFleet comes to mind, they do a lot of grocery store stuff. There are several other carriers. Keep in mind, any regional company in Colorado is going to want you to have mtn. exp. and chaining exp., even a lot of the local haulers will want this.
Big Don Thanks this. -
ACE Hardware has a huge RDC in Colorado Springs, always hiring for delivery drivers, out 2 to 4 days, newer equipment. IIRC, it's $55,000 to start DOE.

@striker, how does Kroger get the freight to their individual stores? Is that all contract now?
