What are rentals like where you are? Possible to find something rural and decent? When I'd drive through it seemed like a place that was all resident-owned, retirees as you said. No one in a hurry. :^)
Possibly moving to Colorado

I live in a trendy community called Salida, right in the mountains. No deals here, like I say, 1 bedrooms are about $800-$900/month, and not much outside of town. I was lucky to get an govt. assisted apt. for seniors for 1/3 that, but not many places like that here. I think there are cheaper places here, but as mentioned, some real trash holes. Denver certainly not shang-ri-la either, and everybody moves to the suburbs, like anywhere else.speedyk Thanks this.

Sysco | CDL A Delivery Truck Driver - $7,500 Sign-on Bonus | Denver, Colorado | Supply Chain and Logistics
Just received this in my inbox today, $7500 sign-on bonus for Denver. I know a couple guys that drove for Sysco, long hours, overtime, 100% you will touch every box on your truck but the pay is good and you're home every night.COBB2070 Thanks this. -
The “natives” will hate you, so be prepared for that. On the bright side, you’ll only see them air their gripes on social media - namely, Denver Post’s page on Facebook - so it’s not like your experience here will be like one big bar fight.
Pioneer Sand is in the Springs, UPS Freight has a facility there, there’s Meyer Trucking (if they’re still there off Mark Dabling Blvd. if you’re into flatbeds, but be forewarned that Leo Meyer is not easy to work for and demands a lot of you without pay on your off time. Then there’s a semi major carrier next door to Meyer which I can’t remember the name of, and I believe Groendyke has a facility either in Monument or Fountain if you have hazmat and tanker. -

Wonder if the OP ever found their footing in the area? Kind of surprised I never spotted this thread earlier. Still plenty of hiring in the Denver Metro area. But seemingly nowhere else in the state. Like many of my concern posts regarding the subject, I've been too back and forth on it for quite some time. Again, I don't really see the jobs going away in that immediate area for the immediate future. Just wish the housing and apartment stock didn't look so cookie cutter and industrial though.

In my town, Salida, we had 3.5 pages of jobs in our little paper yesterday. From healthcare to auto mechanics to machine/driver jobs, some have gone unfilled for months. For example, the local Sonic drive in has suspended carhop service, kind of a staple of Sonic, because they can't find any help. I haven't seen these kind of vacant job numbers since the 80's.Radman and bentstrider83 Thank this.

All the overtime one could possibly get I would imagine. Same sort of thing is happening down here with all aspects of industry. Of course the local agricultural driving jobs are still hurting for drivers, but that's been going on since before the pandemic. Too many dairy pickups being placed on too few drivers, dairy co-ops and farmers still being cheap.
Of course 50000 people in the entire county. It's quick to cycle through everyone able to work in a short amount of time.Radman Thanks this.
