This happened a couple months ago. I learned not to get into an argument again with a winch bar. I considered closing it with Super Glue, but after a shower had a look and decided to bandage it together. Few weeks after that I have a healthy scar.

Well these rig moves are like that. The right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. The crew here knew this was my load, but the office people did not. After a pretty heated exchange with LS heavy haul dept. I think we got the kinks worked out. on the permit issues.
What didn't help was while I was discussing it with the guy in Rockford HH the danm permit agent called Jacksonville and got the required clearance from another HH dept. guy without providing dimensions. So on a second look from the guy in Rockford, it looked like I circumvented his ruling on having to either shorten the load or hire a pole car. I wasn't pissed off until he called me and accused me of that.
I work really hard at doing my job to the best of my ability within the limits of the law or rules. Integrity matters to me. So because some stupid permit agent wants to clock out early and starts rushing things I end up having to defend myself.snowman_w900, SAR, MJ1657 and 7 others Thank this. -
I did part of a crane move 3-4 weeks ago. The rigging crew was a full day behind, there were 5 trucks stacked up that didn't get loaded that Friday. The very first truck was around 10 wide. Nobody told him he'd be wide. Oh and this was on a Saturday morning. I never heard what he did- but to sit 24 hours and then be wide on a Saturday? That's a lot of BS. I'm "lucky" I only had to wait 10 hours to get loaded.snowman_w900, SAR, MJ1657 and 3 others Thank this.

I'm a dummy when it comes to a rig move. But how can you permit a piece that tall when it is only a roof and held together with 4 pins? That sure looks like it is pushing the definition of a non-reducible oversize load to me.
I'm assuming it's a pretty short move?
If the thing is designed to be moved on a regular basis a guy would sure think them legs would be able to be pinned lower for transport.
Hope it turns out but I know how my luck usually works in deals like that.PeteyFixAll, cke, snowman_w900 and 5 others Thank this. -
@sawmill Have you ever thought about getting you're own authority?
johndeere4020, PeteyFixAll, snowman_w900 and 2 others Thank this. -
The pins are when they raise the roof. So far most states don't say anything about the roof sections, as long as they are all the way down. Moved them cross country like that all the time.. it's an oil field thing lol
