They brought the trailer back to cloud and had all the tower guys there for a meeting. The trailer was one of the new Gen3 trailers, they are built for the Seimens bases, but they have been butting Vestas bases on them that are 20-30K heavier and two foot narrower. The old boy that I talked to said that the Vestas bases do not sit right in the lower arms of those Gen3 trailers, they put to much stress on a small part of the arms.

 

I'm not bad mouthing wind energy,.. per say.

I just think when you look at what was once a beautiful range of hills and valleys and see nothing but blades and blinking red lights at night,.. well,.. I think its ugly.

From what I've heard from guys that have been hauling them bases for many years is that ATS tried using those lightweight trailers a few years ago as well. They were too light and the end of the base had more weight and caused them to get "pushed" a lot. So they went back trying to redesign them?? Either way, somebody screwed the pooch on that one.

 

This was what they call a Gen. 3 trl. They just started using them late last year and more early this year.
The problem is I believe is they are like a lot of the bigger players. Trying to haul more weight, but using less steel..
Kinda like using a Can van trl. to haul roll paper in it all the time..
