Escort must've loved that trip. Took longer to put signs on and off than to do the trip...

I used to do a lot of short OS trips. NY wants 3 escorts on 2 lanes when you're over 100'. Our route required that third car for only about a half mile then we were good with only 2 for the rest of the trip. I always felt like I was wasting the company's money...but that's what they wanted. Although occasionally we would scoot with only two.

Rebar from Utah to Montana. They loaded the wrong length first, so I had to unstrap everything to have it pulled off then redone. Cost me an extra two hours. “Broker isn’t responsible for detention.” Well then I won’t be doing any more business with them.

I have two choker straps on the long stuff, and one on the shorter bundles on top. Figured that was enough to hold it in place. 8 straps total.

So the manholes from yesterday had to be delivered.

call guy at 6am (per instructions) he says 'yeah, it's a little wet but we'll keep you on the roadbase"
    get there
yeah, we're trying to get a stuck truck out on the main road, it's going to be a while
ummmmmmmmmm this does not sound good (it rained like a mother yesterday, it's all clay)
    hang out read book
1.5 hours later guy come sin pickup and says "let's go see where i need you to go and you say if you can do it or not"
up steep ### dirt (mud) hill, down, sideways, water just oozing out, loader building more of the road
yeah, well i think that can be done, but i might get stuck and need a pull out

ok, gimme 20 more minutes and i'll come get you
    he comes to get me
    I Fing MADE IT
    this is me coming back
it's hard to tell how steep it is, and it's just mud (and i'm empty and going downhill, probably a mile of this)

    another view

get down to the really nasty corner. it was "fun" going up, the front of the truck wouldn't turn, backed off throttle, it caught, spun 'em a bit to get it turned and just kinda dragged the trailer over the berms.

but going down, now it's tighter going forward and now crap, there's a pole.
try and back up, no room left to manuever. drop off and mud on every side. I'm just going to stop here, yo (phone call) bring the loader down, you need to drag the trailer around (53' spread)
The mud actually worked for us for once.

that rear trailer tire is just over a big hole and my steers are up against the far side. I even jackknifed it a bit on the initial turn (a K turn) Simply not enough space and too much mud. (you can see the mud up close, this is 3 hours after i first got there to deliver)

    isn't flatbedding fun?
