it's a really long frame. it's something like a 275" wheelbase. I can overhang like 6' (almost 7" and still make turns. (and it's legal here). It was originally a heavy haul tractor for moving bridge girders. (the new ones are 4 axle rigs with heavy fronts). Double frame, aux transmission, low gearing, etc. That little day cab weighs 22,300 full of fuel.

so today they send me to live load structural steel. As you guys know ,that kind of stuff can take forever to live load. fit this piece here, slide this one in here, etc, etc, etc.
I show up and it's this one piece. they plop it on in about 15 seconds. Weighs a grand total of 7000lbs

1. 5 hours to load
2. Mix match of steel makes securement difficult (small and big diameter steel mixed)
3. 3 stops all with set apts
4. Had to be tarped
If I had ANY other option I would have taken it. There is nothing like untarping and retarping for a 3 stop load. Front section was too long just for a smoke tarp and the rear was too long for just one 4ft drop tarp. Massive pain in the butt. No tarped pics because it was an embarrassment.
Al. Roper, whoopNride, Tug Toy and 4 others Thank this. -

Sitting on the dock of the bay..................
Galvanized parts for a great big boat dock. (ok, big for colorado).
Guy loading me "ummmmmm i thought you were bringing a 53' step deck"
Uhhhhhhhhhh, dispatch told me to bring a flatbed. We're ok though, Colorado is pretty liberal on this.
Hanging over about 3' on the front and 8'6" on the back. Not even oversize. -
You know, it’s been a few years since I hauled manholes, and I asked the same question.
To my understanding, you put that plastic cone on the butyl, little end down in the hole, before the cap goes on, and somehow use it to catch debris running down in.....although there was no filter bags, or mention of a liner in it? They had one for each size (6’ and 4’) but I threw the 4’ one into the 6’ hole for safe keeping.
Also had him throw another 2” through the hole pulling backwards when he got parked; loaded about a mile from the yard so I weren’t too worried.
