so today it snowed like 4". yeah, may 21st FFS. I shoveled 4" of snow off the flatbed.
Boss says "take it over to this structural steel place, they'll live load you and it's a two stopper. (one a paint place one a galvanizing place"
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh crap
That stuff can take hours and you have to direct it and it's cold and yucky.
So i get in there and they load it up.
yeah, that's the whole load, both stops. Minus a bucket of little stuff that i let ride up front with me. (it's a flatbed.....................)
probably could have fit it in a pickup. That front little piece the guy just picked up and put it up there by hand.
Post flatbed load photos here V2.0

been doing a bunch of rebar this week. It's easy enough (supposed to be pre-strapped, but rarely correctly) and the trailers are crap, but you just unstrap and wait for them to unload. I'm way catching up on my reading.
You notice what you don't see in this picture? anyone unloading me.
show up at 10:30. There's a crane off to the left (out of picture), back down, unstrap and wait. Guy jumps up, they do one bundle and then I realize nothing has moved in quite a while. Look around and realize no one is around.
THEY WENT TO LUNCH
FOR AN HOUR
We charge at least $100/hr to just sit.
and heck it's Friday I was on OT.
I just sat and read.
2.5 hours to unload that.
like i said, easy enough even if rebar never really behaves. -
What a week man I tell ya. Started off with a fresh new trailer box from tri city canvas. I bought it 8 months ago and finally put it on lol. I like this design far more than my Merritt drop down door one on the driver side.
Load up was easy plastic pipe. First time ever doing coils in my year of flat bedding for back haul. What a crap load. Not to mention 8 hours to load. If there was anything else leaving NJ area to my house I would have taken it. 2 stops. An 19k coil in the back is stop 1. Stop 2 is 6 eye to sky coils (6, 6, 4, 4, 4,, 4K). I cannot tarp a coil to save my life. This thing is blowing everywhere.

Tarp job don't look that bad.
What took so long to load a few coils?
