No idea why it took so long.

As for the tarping, you haven’t seen it when driving. It billows bad. I even laced all the rings with shock cord like a tennis shoe.

I think one reason is because I had to use some of that 8ft drop tarp to cover a skidded coil as well so was not able to get it tight over the front coil, leaving lots of slack.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

    It does look bad.
You should have folded the excess tarp on the high coil at the front and back off the high coil.
Instead have many small folds at the side off the high coil which made it blow in the wind.

Wish I knew what you meant by that.
I think you mean not straight down on the sides but pull the sides front to back to make it tight.

I would have brought the tarp in closer at the front and rear of the stand up also.

Still don't look to bad for 1st time, more practice it will get better. After 8 hours I would have rushed it also.

If it was me I would have used a 2inch strap to tighten down the tarp that's right before your big coil. Then on the big coil start at the back ( obviously on the side though ) and pull all that towards your cab. Hooks some bungie's on it to keep it tight, then pull all the tarp from the front sides to the back going over what you just pulled towards the front... This is how I do it pictured below.

Also I permanently hooked a couple bungie's together as shown for when I do coil loads so I can pull it all the way around the coil and dont have to worry about the hooks where they connect tearing my tarps... So take 2 bungie's remove the hook out of 1 of them then take the other bungie hook it into where you just took the hook out of the other bungie and crimp it together... essentially makes 1 long bungie...

Yes,and fold any excess under the up and downslope off the tarp.
Throw a rope (or a lightly tightend strap) over both slopes.

It is hard to explain in words.:)

Yep that's what I thought you meant. That is why I bring tarp down in front and back with less slope more vertical to help hold the fold in.

This was a whole lot of climbing around on a windy day in Texas. I put one strap through the rub rail on the front trailer and said "Naw".
