You fold in the front and back of the coil versus the sides?

Thanks for the tips y’all. My first time with the coil and I thought I had to use an 8ft drop tarp. I also had to cover the palleted coil that was literally half an inch from touching the suicide coil.

I just watched this YouTube video to get a better idea and he used a 4ft tarp and was done in like 20 minutes.

800 miles into a 2,000 mile trip and already have deep regrets. These kind of loads make me so mad. About the tarp not dropping down to deck, broker explicitly wanted it this way.

After my first time hauling onions, I became a firm believer: All food products should go in a box!!!!!!!!

Is that legal without the tarp at the side?
DOT could argue there is a danger if a bag tears.

Tarps aren't rated... What about all the stuff shipped in bags and such that aren't tarped at all? Mulch, rocks, sand, etc etc etc

    Wednesday's steel load

usually structural steel is a mess. 5 of this, 4 of this, etc etc

Nope, this one was all beams (4 stacks across, all about the same size and two of the stacks are intertwined).

Easiest structural steel I've ever tied down. 7 chains and off we go (60' long).

As you can see (top of Vail pass) IT'S STILL FREAKING SNOWING here!!!!!!!!!!

Get there, it's 3 picks remember. 4 stacks of beams but 1 is intertwined.

takes the forkie an hour. (yeah, i was like are you kidding me?).

But i still got time, i can get back. It will be close but not impossible. And away I go.

BigCam9670, cke, booley and 5 others Thank this.

and then I get to glenwood canyon and they stop all traffic. both ways.
and they make all the trucks enter the canyon and wait in the right lane (of course some buttbrains don't listen, but the troopers had a grumpy conversation with them). 2hours later, I call dispatch "yo, get me a room"

We finally move (some accident, i dunno, didn't see anything, no one did either on the CB). and i make the hotel.

bossman says "turn on your 10 and call me as you get closer". so i get up at 3:45am (OMG, this is flatbed, solar powered hello) run thru MORE SNOW on the top of vail, get the poo scared out of me on some icy bridges and get back to the shop. I go in and boss says "take trailer over to this trench rental safety place and load up" so i go load up:

    20190530_094749_resized.jpg

and drive back to Vail (city). downtown, little tiny no way out roads. "oh yeah, we just drive thru the pedestrian mall to get out". Sure enough little crazy but it works. BTW wasn't supposed to have that aluminum box. was 13'5" tall. umm should have brought a step deck. (the tunnel only takes 13'11, i measured like 3 times). and look at all that piddly stuff. yo, THIS IS NOT A PICKUP. it's a FLAT bed.

and i get there and the guy says "oh, we'll get you offloaded fast so you can go to your 2nd stop." ummm no, it's all yours.

turns out he only ordered 1 of those blue boxes (there's 3 there, 24x8's) and 2 sets of the spreader bars (pipe). so i had to take like half the load back. Those blue boxes weigh 11,000lbs a pair. That's a full load.

    trucking never changes.

BTW, yeah for local. I worked like 45 hours this week (tues-fri) and I only worked like 7 hours on tuesday.

Friday of course they sent me back over the hill, but i forgot to take picture, sorry.

cke, Tb0n3, booley and 2 others Thank this.
