They can vary but figure 1800 per pack give or take.
The whole pile was 40,200ish. How many straps does that take if it were a single unit?

1 4in strap is legally only good for 4000 pounds, that gets pushed a bit pretty often.
-
PoleCrusher and krupa530 Thank this.

That is what the law is. The straps are only rated for 5000, before the dot came up with the 4000 pound law, they were much better straps and rated for 12000.pounds.

Post the law on the 4000lb deal your talking about please? I've never heard of it...PoleCrusher and Lepton1 Thank this. -
I think you may be confusing if straps have the legal WLL marked on them or if they are not marked or faded away then the WLL of the strap is reduced according to the regulation...
Right? As far as I'm aware as long as my #5400 strap has the WLL visibly stamped on it or has the tag at the end of it indicating its load limit then it's still good for #5400Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
Could it be referring to the strap attachment points on some trucks if not proven to be stronger, were flat rated to 4000?
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I think stake pockets with rub rail are 5400 and chain popups are 6200.. Something like that.

The working load limits of tiedowns may be determined by using either the tiedown manufacturer's markings or by using the tables in this section. The working load limits listed in the tables are to be used when the tiedown material is not marked by the manufacturer with the working load limit. Tiedown materials which are marked by the manufacturer with working load limits that differ from the tables, shall be considered to have a working load limit equal to the value for which they are marked.
SOURCE:eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations
The table lists Synthetic Webbing(Straps) that are 4" Wide as 4000lbs WLL. This rating only applies to straps that have no marking.
Most 4" straps are marked at 5,400lbs or higher.
Kinedyne also makes a line if Rhino Max 4" straps with a marked WLL of 6,670 LBS.Last edited: Aug 9, 2019
