Have you ever seen the UPS doubles from the 50’s and 60’s with the fifth wheel on the trailer?
Man that K100 looks like an old Imperial Bondware truck.

that paint scheme was of a few standard K100 schemes that could be ordered with a checkmark.
That particular one was made more popular by the show BJ and the Bear in 1978.
A company I worked for in '78/79 had a 75? with a Cummins 350 and a rto12513 with 4.63 rears with that paint. I was told the boss went into the KW dealer to order 3 new trucks and was offered this one off the lot as it was all he wanted except it was not all red like the rest of his company trucks and was a bit shorter wheelbase.

I don't know as I don't think they would hold up to what I do now, maybe a play truck for my retirement years.

That's what I learned on, and drove a number combinations when young in different trucks. The desire is mostly nostalgia.

Never seen a contraption like that. Does a dolly go in the back like when you turn a single screw into a tandem?

    Sounds more like a b-train.

No, you hook the trailer directly to it, most that I have seen have been long trailers with a 4 axle running gear on the lead trailer. These are kind of like long B trains, the typical b train is not long enough to bridge enough weight in Alaska.
