Well, suffice to say one thing I’ve learned never to underestimate is the power of vibration to loosen just about anything.

I’ll bet that skid of titanium has a substantial dollar value attached to it.

You’d be surprised. Titanium is valuable but not anywhere near super valuable. We haul a lot of it for the aerospace industry. From great big 20k pound ingots to tiny round bars. Here’s a couple of 8k pound ingots from a few years ago. And some small plate. The stuff is extremely hard. 46AD3118-2801-43E5-B28B-8923D2A457AF.jpeg A26C6332-9774-436D-960A-6C9555C45D8E.jpeg

Hard and light. You can certainly feel the difference in a ring made of titanium vs one made of gold. You’d think that would be what makes it valuable.

I imagine it would make a hell of a sword or battle axe.

Poor edge retention and not enough weight to give a swing momentum.

Makes for a horrible sword or battle ax.

A hard metal wouldn’t hold an edge?

May possibly be to brittle? I know it’s used in knife making quite a bit, but a knife and an ax are two different ends of the spectrum.

Brittle is a possibility, but that’s a complaint I have yet to hear about titanium.

@1951 ford what say you sir?

Ti is wierd.. It can be kinda gummy when machining .. Almost like aluminum had a lovechild with stainless. High strength to weight ratio is probably its biggest asset. In my experience its a bit soft for blades.

Nostalgic, Tb0n3, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this.
