    Then Friday
go get a load of steel to the airport. It was 6 degrees and they unloaded me as fast as I could pull chains, so no pics. sorry.
then go get another load of steel and take downtown, cuz the other guy screwed teh pooch getting out of their yard and busted two tires on a flatbed. their yard is ridiculously tight. I just go get the yard dog. you've seen my truck, I ain't getting it out of some tight spot.

    Of course it's going downtown.
and who says flatbedders can't back? this is me taking picture while backing out. (hell you get a 100 trucks a day get a pull thru)

Yeah, they had me all the way at the front. Maybe an inch or two on either side.

Then go get a O/S load of aluminum trusses. 60' long about 10' wide, this one actually was pretty good. a bunch of stuff just screwed together.

This one was pretty good. it looks worse than it is. a lot of that is all screwed together into one piece. This stuff is really hard cuz you can't crank it down, you just bend it. Also I did learn a trick. A twist (on both sides BTW) makes an enormous difference on these. You'll thank me later.

Then they say go grab this double drop and run out to preload a big box. Some other guy grabbed the wrong trailer and they put the box on and it just sunk right to the ground.

Yeah, that's a good sized box. 11x10x8 INSIDE diameter, 44,000lbs. BTW remember it was 6 degrees, this morning? by 1pm i was working in short sleeves. We get weird weather.

BTW that's 14' tall. I measured. believe it or not 14'6" is legal in Colorado.

Turns make a huge difference in staying tight on fluffy stuff. At 4ft tall i do a half turn and over that a whole twist.

Yes, but I leave my spreads closed unless they are needed open for weight, it's easier on the trailer and tires that way.

Those tall things on my catwalk are bunks. They get chained to the deck for hauling utility poles. Specialty fleet, utility poles.

I'm trying to limit myself to 2 days a week, but because I work for 2 different guys, sometimes I go over my limit...

Are those 2 pictures of the same load? Because the leftside view is like, "let's see how high we can pile this crap on your truck"
And the rightside view is like, "OMG, what am I supposed to do with this"

Stepdecks will have 2 valves, one to set the trailer brakes and one to inflate airbags so the tires will clear the winches, etc.

Highboy will only have a valve to set the trailer brakes, usually a knob along the driver side deck rail somewhere. I have seen the valve located along the lower frame rail but that's rare.

Ours all have a pin release lever similar to tandem slider locks. I use a lot of spray lube, and sometimes visegrips.

We have a precast customer that requires a twist in our straps to prevent them from fluttering and leaving a mark on the finished concrete

Can you move them around yourself or do they require assistance?

    FerrissWheel and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
