This driver tried to use shortcuts that didn’t work.
If you notice on the bundles, each one has 3 bands. At the bands is a sticker. This is the point of contact. This is also the point where clamping force is highest and transfers to the deck. A strap should have been placed at each of these locations. Putting straps between these points only bows the lumber a slight bit, now you are working against the “spring” in the lumber. Very little clamping force is working on the load. This allows the load to walk around. Should a hard brake happen, the shift will be epic!
Additional straps placed along the load are only going to be for control of the load, with minimal clamp force, unless stickers are placed at those points from top to bottom. Length and weight will dictate the number of straps, just know where maximum clamping will be.
On a side note. This mill is being cheap. The bundles in the picture should have 4 stickers/bands minimum on each of them.booley, FoolsErrand, FerrissWheel and 7 others Thank this. -

Dubuque Iowa to Ashland, Va 544L and 333G. This is the 27th loader for me in the last four months. I told them that it’s going to wear out my trailer with those heavier tracks and loads on the outside aluminum supports. Dispatch “Nah it’s fine”. Well this happened todayLast edited: Jul 16, 2020

15’4” wide from Texas to Washington with my straps over the tarp. It’s tarped very tight but still balloons up on top, even with the straps over the tarp. I don’t want to find out what Wyoming wind would do to a tarp without straps.
PPLC, booley, FoolsErrand and 16 others Thank this. -
Boop, back for 1 load...or two I should say, can’t say no to $155/hour to move rig matts!
