Even if you did use 4 x 4 dunnage, it would just provide different points of contact for your tarp, vs pipe or beams.

True. Ive often thought about getting some of those end caps for pvc pipe. And putting it on freight like that. Would atleast soften the edge and not rip as easily. But its just one of those things , u get it to tight and it will rip, not tight enough and the wind will pound on it until it rips. They should only ship freight like that on conestogas or curtain sides and make everybodies life easier

Looks fine to me, I mean the main point is getting the loops wrapped on that front good. There is a somewhat cleaner way to do it, but if its holding that front from sliding, its working.

I like that loop style. That is what i love about this thread, u get to see everybodies different way of doing things. Usually when i crosschain . I just wrap the hookend around a spool like normal and go underneath the middle of freight and back up over the top and spool on the other side. Throw binder in middle , repeat other side. But im gonna try that loop style now.

Loop style uses 2 spools. Doesn't cross chaining use more spools which in my mind would be better. My load securement consists of rolling a tarp over the trailer.

I mean if you got something ultra heavy sure. More the merrier. Though there are some situations where the loop style is more practical.

Just discussion. Nothing more. Someone may learn something. Technically speaking, aren't the cross chains to prevent the whole load from moving forward in the event of a sudden stop?
