IMG_1207.JPG IMG_1208.JPG IMG_1209.JPG IMG_1210.JPG IMG_1211.JPG IMG_1212.JPG First load of steel. 36' long. 48k, 9 bundles in all, four top five bottom. May be hard to see but there is protection at every rub point, mostly old straps cit in 12 inch lengths or so and doubled over where there are no edge protectors. Two bright yellow straps are wrapped around belly and one ratchet on curbside one on drive side. Loaded and went 17 miles down rough road to fuel. Got one click or so out of 1/2 the ratchets, after that check never had to tighten down at any other load check till delivery. I wanted to cross two straps across the front but I ran out of material for rub protection. I'll be honest, it was a tad unnerving hauling this stuff for the first time.

Man that stuff is unnerving even when u haul it for the 100th time, even when u got enough straps on it to kill a full grown rhinoscerous like u got , that stuff can still move ! Looks like u got the hang of this flatbed stuff already, very nice work sir !!

@LTL Bull if u ever run into the problem where ur straps are tight as can be but they are fluttering in the wind , put a half twist in the straps before u put them thru the winch. Not sure how or why it works but it does. Even when they loosen up a little they will not flap or flutter in the wind. I know sometimes on that steel tubing i have run into that problem . Half twist always cures it .

About 15 min after my previous post I was blessed to go to John Deere in Dubuque. I was at the truck stop about 5 mile away waiting where I had previously dropped. I was able to get loaded and secured by noon. Cha-Ching.

One trick i have seen other people do with that sort of stuff to prevent forward movement is to put an extra piece of stacked dunnage under the front of the load, this will make the load slant toward the back.
