Wouldn’t at least 2 belly chains be very advisable there?

Yes i wouldve tried to throw a wrap around the top layer atleast, but it looks like there isnt enough clearence between bundles to get chains thru which i wouldve thrown an extra chain up front just for good luck , but its not needed... if hes 30ft or less(looks maybe 20ft or less) and under 40k hes legal secured

It may be legal, but what I’m wondering about is how greasy is the product. If it’s extraordinarily oily steel going above and beyond legal may be needed.

. Yes that definatly plays into as well...... It looks like each bundle is individually wrapped which helps the middle pieces from walking out , if they were just bundled all together as 1 top and 1 bottom piece id say a couple wraps would be absolutly necessary . But i think he shouldnt have any problems with it secured the way he has it , long as the chains stay tight.

I would belly strap , but they specifically separated bundles 5-6inches apart ... probably for unloading ...got loaded with monster magnet that grabbed 5 bottom bundles at once and separated them one by one , second row same thing ...unloading was each individually with crane ...if belly strapped - it would put top row tight to each other probably

Typically you want to put blocks in between the bundles. Have them slide the bundles into the blocks, and when you chain or strap it pulls everything together and still leaves space for unloading.

The way you had it, if you would’ve slammed on the brakes that would would have slid forward.

I do like that the front blocks are a bit bigger than the middle ones, and that you put your chain behind it to put pressure down on the block.
The rear chain should be ahead of the rear block to put extra pressure on the block, downward pressure adds friction and will counteract inertia.
I would have put at least 1 chain between layers and would have wrapped the top layer ahead of the front block and pulled back slightly.
A bulkhead built at least 1/2 the way up the top layer would be a good idea.
2 inch blocking between bundles is almost mandatory in my book for crane unloading or loading.

Where do u guys carry all this extra equipment at ? How to block something with blocks in between when u dont carry it ? I carry a couple blocks with me . But most likely wouldve just throw an extra chain up front and back and hit the road.

Anytime I’ve had loads like that the shipper has supplied the blocks.
