When I used to load out of Bethlehem Steel, the first thing you'd do at the entrance was throw hardwood sticks on your trailer. We got into the habit of grabbing at least 8...eventually, they put up a sign saying "maximum 5 blocks";) and if I remember correctly, towards the end of the mill being open...we had to bring our own sticks...

Mercer takes them on trade. I don't know what kind of deal they have set up. They sell 30' straps for $12, so with a trade in we pay $2 a strap.

That makes two of us, I got pulled over on I-10 yesterday in west Texas and was instructed to follow the trooper a mile or so off the interstate to a little scale house. Worked out good though, truck and trailer got the sticker :)

I live just north of San Antonio and used to run over to Midland,Odessa, and Pecos a lot when I had a hotshot a few years ago.

The highway patrol would sit in the median there in Ozona and Sonora waiting for hotshots to come through to inspect them and I ended up being one of the lucky few that got pulled into that small scale and when I pointed at the Level 1 sticker I had,he still wanted to proceed and I argued with him for a bit till another trooper came over and agreed that I shouldn’t get a level 1 because I had just had one and they let me go.Barely made my delivery time in Pecos. But I haven’t tried the BBQ in Ozona, just the one in Sonora and it was really good.

I’m still running on a green “0” (cut corners)CVSA sticker. They don’t want to inspect me. I figure with all the polished aluminum and Wax paint they would want a closer look :D:p
