Well as if Owen's Corning in Tallmadge, Ohio wasn't already safety conscious enough....

They had some driver show up recently that couldn't speak English, his dispatcher had to call in and check in for him over the phone... Why they even allowed that is beyond me...

After getting loaded he drives inside the securement bay, didn't position his truck properly so the ladder that goes over the top of the truck for you to walk on the load was 4 feet too short.... The guy from the office comes out and the truck driver is dangling in the air... He tried to jump over and missed... :biggrin_25512:

So now after getting loaded, they have to direct you into the bay, make sure you're lined up perfectly, then put a glad hand lock on your truck while you tarp/strap...

If its deemed you can't comprehend English as the supervisor is explaining everything, you get to watch a securement instructional video on the new TV's they having hanging up... While watching the video, the safety supervisor demonstrates everything in person for you just like the stewardess does on a airplane...

    Unreal man. :biggrin_2554:

    Tri-City Canvas Granite City, I’ll.
Flatbed Equipment & Flatbed Trailer Accessories For Truck

Prices are reasonable. Purchased a lot of equipment from them.
Just tell Steve what you want, they’ll make it if not in stock. Tarp like your looking for should be on the shelf. They sew straps as well. Had them make up a bunch for me.

Didn’t they have a tarp system?

Been this way since I've been loading there...

You put the safety harness on, walk up the stairs, connect the line to your harness then, push the little cat walk ladder deal down over your load so you can walk over the gap between the stair case and trailer safely...

Could have been thinking of a different one. They all start looking alike after a few times.

Ya, seems more and more places are going with the crane system where you don't have to get up on the load at all or by having one of their employees get on top and roll it out for the driver.

Wouldn't be surprised if owens switched to one of those methods in the near future...

Experience says up to 18 inches between lacings works but make the smallest set of d-rings 7.5ft apart on the length and 11.5ft on the width and I found that a machine/steel tarp should be 24X18 and I carried 1 with 2 20X18 with a flap on one end and 4 cross lacing on the back side
