true i see what you're getting at.. for me running the numbers was just the motivater for finally going out on my own. its something i always wanted to do even before i started driving. just taking baby steps to get there. from company driver to lease purchase to owner op(like 3 months lol) to finally own authority...i fully expect to make less money on my own but im ok with that because it was never really about that.. going out on my own, it gives me full control and responsibility over my life and my business. ive found as i grow up its hard for me to work for anybody but myself. i got a taste of owning my own business, and thats what i want to do until the day i die... whatever it takes to do that, im willing to do it.

I went on my own strictly because I wanted 100% control over every aspect of my business. I never liked giving up a percentage, but also realize that there is real value in it too. I’ll be honest though, some days I think about giving it up and leasing back onto a carrier.

Maintenance ? Oh I guess I've never accounted for that - I try to always leave 75k in the account for any issues that ever come up on trucks.

Yeah, that's what I mean that they tend to get some of it from you one way or another, but I was just curious how much the difference and amount would be. Meaning, as much as it would pain me, at this point in my life, it would seem to be the better option at least/until a nut big enough to make that plunge was in place so I could learn the paperwork/negotiation/cost of operation's aspects and hopefully pay the truck off in that time if possible. Have a couple more years on the house to be paid off so it would be a balancing act and I hate falling. :)

So, in your case, roughly $80.00 a day, whether you work or not, as long as everything stayed within their limits. Guessing you own your vehicle outright since I don't see truck or trailer payments or some reference to it other than your late mention of maintenance that you build into your mileage operating cost, so that's a variable a new op would have in their equation.

It was an honest question. Different folks account for things differently. I just didn't see it in your figures, so I asked.

Yeah we own all our equipment, it’s been near impossible for me to get financing down here in the US ( even though id rather 100% finance! )

You still have to factor in replacement costs. As you know, nobody is giving equipment away.
