From top to bottom, I do.

    1. The shippers are a cluster ####, no matter which shipper. It's like they're all in on it together, because they're all the same "kind" of stupid and unorganized.

    2. The load makes me paranoid. That's why I tarped it. Too much new grey hair, and I said if I ever hauled brick again, I was going to tarp it for safety.

    3. The receiver is always a cluster #### too. Some guy on a moffett that can't wait for lunch so he can spartch up a fat doobie.

But it pays decent, and it's positioning me for some fair pay back to Texas. Get home, PM the truck, PM the wife, and I'm heading right back out. I've got a couple credit cards I want to zero out, and then pay off the Denali in case we really are headed for a dark time.

Funny you say that! I can tell you the brick places in the northwest are the same way. Plus they always wanna load heavy then throw a fit when I tell them take some crap off. There was a driver on here along time ago @FoolsErrand I think was his username. he fabbed up some metal edge protectors , just for hauling brick like that. Basically the same as a regular edge protector but it covered the entire side of the pallet. I've run into a couple guys at the brick yards that have something similar. But just think, more stuff you gotta find a place to store in the rig

I've thought about getting the full plastic ones that cover the whole side, but yeah, where to put them? Plus, do I really mess with it enough to buy them?

Yeah that's the never ending question . I could probably fill up a whole trailer worth of crap that works for 1 thing and is nice to have.. I'm sure I'd still complain I don't have enough storage space :biggrin_25523:

It was a big compressor going overseas. I was going a town that I had to detour though because I wouldn't fit across a bridge. Now, this is before GPS was really a thing mind you. Got to the town and literally all the signs were down because of construction. I Parked on the side ofnthe road and had my rear escort stay behind me and sent my front escort out to scout the route. She came back like an hour later and said she didn't see the route, but found the interstate. So, we headed toward the interstate. Went across a bunch of bridges and roads that we definitely weren't supposed to be on. Got onto the interstate and picking up speed. Cop had a car pulled over and I got over in the left lane. As i was going by the cop did a double take. Got back in the right lane and about a minute later my escort said I was getting pulled over. Got over. She asked what I was doing there. I told her the whole story. She said i should have called the state police to find the route. She yanked my permit and fined the ever living hell out of me. Said I had to appear in court. So, sat there for a day for a new permit. Delivered a day late. Went to court like 2 months later or something. Court house was in a frigging strip mall....no joke. The cop met me and the lawyer there. The lawyer plea bargained the ticket down to $30k, knocking it in half. Went in front of the judge, done deal and I was on my way.

No problem, thanks. Sometimes it's neat to look back. I didn't even know I had those pics. Found an external hard drive in a box and decided to plug it in. I will look at it more tomorrow, see if there is anything else on there. Big difference in the flip phone pics of the past vs the new smart phones of today....lol

    Yes sir.
When your permit gets yanked, they take you back down to 80k lbs and fine you for every pound after that. Plus over axle weight. Plus road usage. Plus driving without a permit.....because it's now void. Etc, etc, you get the drift.

That's nothing. A guy I worked with there got a $120k ticket and spend 2or3 days in a new York jail. Just to make sure he paid. It was over stupid newyork crap. New York used to have to come out and do an inspection before you left. Had to replace 19 axles worth of tires. Had to fly out the manufacturer of the trailer to reinstall axle tags. Crap like that, it sucked and he missed the boat......literally. this is why I do flatbed now. Just load it up and go. No BS.
