Only brick yard I’ve ever been to is Adel Iowa. The loader seemed to know what he was doing, but talk about a bizarre check in procedure.

Pull up to the first building... “No, the shipping office is that building over there.”

Pull up to the shipping office... “Yes this is the shipping office, but you gotta check in at that building over there.”

Go inside that building, pick up a phone and call... you guessed it, the SHIPPING OFFICE!!! “OK, pull your truck over here and I’ll load you, then go to the shipping office for your bills.”

    FML.

Been there. Been to three different ones so far, and they're all the same like that. Their own brand of stupid. Different check in procedures, but all equally as convoluted.

At Adel, I got passed by two trucks, and the forklift drivers weren't pulling me in. I walked into the office to ask WTF. They asked if I checked in at the little building? I said I went in there, and there wasn't anyone in there to check me in. Oh, you're supposed to pick up the phone....

    #### YOU.

    LOL!

And of course you can’t use your cell phone, you have to use their stupid dirty pos circa 1975 dinosaur phone that has been manhandled by 10 bazillion grimy hands.

What the hell, if we have to call then why can’t we just call from our cell phone when we are 10 minutes out, then we pull in and get the #### loaded!?

And the company wonders WHY you don't want to go near, through or by New York, when it pays so much money...yeah...and then take it right back. No thanks.
Not to mention the theft that occurs while you sleep.

I am SOOOOOO grateful for the career I have! I love trucking. There are days that are crap and then there are great days. I absolutely love flatbed, but it DEFINITELY has its cons. I love hanging out with the night mechanics. They are absolutely amazing. I love the fact that our one mechanic was a trucker for a long time and also is SOOOOO knowledgeable with diesel mechanics. I love learning things from him. That picture I took out the windshield.....that is what I live for. I have made great improvements with shifting (I definitely still have my days....or moments because my moments are daily still BUT I have made improvements though). I'm still learning. I've had my issues, but things are much better. Thanks to everyone on here who has also helped me through this journey! Y'all know who you are. I love the dirty work, I love my truck (she's my baby), I love our customers, I love knowing that everyone who has hurt me is missing out. Everyone who told me I couldn't, is eating dust now. And I've gotten away from two very toxic ex's/friends and I'm doing much better without them. Personal life is still rough BUT I KNOW I'M ONE KICK ### WOMAN ♡♡♡
