The scales were about 150 miles from the shipper, so 300 mile round trip…

I don’t think that tarp job is bad at all, for a first timer especially.

While I am not a pro at load board work: if you’re going to do commodity/bulk kind of moves, it would pay to have on board scales for sure; but additionally be able to scale 48k which is what a lot of that stuff is likely to end up being- regardless of what any broker says.

Obviously this is on your dime, but had it been mine...I think I would, just to make the point and then report the violation to the state. As I said, I do believe it is a crime to falsify a BOL, and that put you in the upper hand of negotiations. They don't want to pay and you have proof via your scales tickets empty and full, and the BOL is falsified...you have a better chance of making a case and perhaps getting them to pony up the extra money for the load AND the inconvenience of wasting your time and resources. I might be off, but after a few calls to State and Federal authorities, OOIDA and blacklisting them so others are aware of their shenanigans and the loss of available trucks in the future...well. It depends on how far you're willing to go, I guess...but for me, if you lie, you pay. :dontknow:

I know as only a company driver, I've had to do this with shippers and the carrier when the info was wrong. They didn't fire me, and the problem was resolved..on their dime....so I guess I have no dog in this fight if I'm not an O/O at this time, but as a company driver, I had no problem holding the rule book to their feet.
    :biggrin_255:

By the way where in the boonies were you getting this load from that you didn't have a CAT scale within 25 -50 miles?
Oh, and that was a very nice tarp job for first time, so there's hope for you yet. :)

Looks fine, they’re not always perfect just as long as they stay on and protect the freight :)

I use these, buy them in three packs from Costco. They last a couple of months and I believe only cost $23 or so, pretty good deal overall.

I use different gloves for fueling and another set for glad hands and trailers, always a good thing to have dry gloves on a wet day…

This looks like a dirt/rock load. Scotts?
They are never what they say. Always 2 or 3 k more than they say it will be. V boards will help on loads like this.
