    Going to drop it off at the Nuss body shop in Eau Claire tomorrow morning. Their going to Jack the cab up, pull the truck out, and put a different truck under it.

    Different. I see them as usable, particularly around the wheel wells of a step deck. Many times, there is no way to strap and the freight is too delicate to use chains, so taking a regular flat hook strap, with only a ratchet/chain end, would be a way to use that so you have chain on each end to grab a spool, but plain strap so you don't have to pay for the chain/strap combo to keep costs down. I usually bought the set, but I can see where if your strap with the chain became damaged and you had to improvise, using that with a regular strap would make more sense. Keeping a couple wouldn't be excessive storage and a cinch to work in a pinch. :)
