I've never owned a strap winder. Last week alone, I had 3 guys approach me to ask if I wanted to use theirs. Nope...I'm good thanks. Never seen the allure to them.

The first one is my go to. Most of the time, I strip my straps from the trailer, and that is the one I use the most, especially with the number of straps I'll use on a load, since I carry not only the company supplied one's, but I carry my own also. Straps, chain anchor straps and chain anchor ratchets in sizes 4" and 2", so when it's time to wrap up, the first one is my guy. Sometimes, I get lazy, and the second one comes into play. I use that one when I've just unloaded, and am going to be getting loaded asap, and usually a low laying load, so there won't be overhead throwing of the hook involved, so I'll just wrap those straps on the winches and that's where tool #2 the Kwik Winder comes into play. I started with the 3rd one, and I carry it as a reserve, but I dislike the way the tightener comes loose no matter how hard I tighten it, from the motion of winding the straps up at that angle. These are a God-send for the old and the infirm, and for those of us that are both. I did like some said, but my fibromyalgia convinced me that winding with my wrists and hands and making them spasm wasn't worth my pride of hand rolling them, so I use the winders, so don't be swayed by any macho delusions.Last edited: Apr 19, 2022

I have an inverter in the truck so keeping batteries charged is not a difficult task, if I only have a couple of straps I may wind by hand, but the winder saves time and gets them tight which I prefer.
It’s all down to preference, I get enough physical labor in so little things that save time and effort help.CAXPT, God prefers Diesels, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this. -
Came up in my memories from 4 years ago, thought I’d throw it here. Superior Hardwoods in Missoula was reclaiming a bunch of old grain elevators in Idaho at the time. I can’t even imagine how much money they ended up getting selling this stuff piece by piece.
