How old is that trailer? The couple places I load at that require pipe stakes, it's loaded all at one time. I've had pipe stakes bend but never had the pocket rip off like that...
Edit: You do chain the bottom of those stakes, Correct?

Marine Winch with a 250 hp electric motor and a max line pull of 440,000 pounds. I think they are going fishing for Moby Dick!

Using the wheelbase to my advantage with that 60' beam. ME to TX. I did add another chain pulling back around the center of the beam after this pic. It definitely flattened out the old utility lol.

Not sure. Coils like this are out of my wheelhouse. This is for our biggest customer and is regular move for us, The Kid is new to the game the guy in the photo is the one who’s been doing it so I’m deferring to him. All I know is they have five coil racks on the bottom unbveled hardwood Timbers and 8 5/16 grade 70 chainsPoleCrusher, God prefers Diesels, cke and 4 others Thank this.

For a 45k to 48k coil, thats about right. Like to put skid/friction pads under the racks. Also like to put some sort of material between the coil and timbers.PoleCrusher, Lostkeys, H3R3T1C and 5 others Thank this.

Good questions, for sure. Whether he had them chained or not, I have had my c channel pipe stakes bent like that. The chain may have kept it from also ripping the pocket, but I've picked up trailers where they looked like that from someone else not chaining it. In fact, my last load at the one employer in 2014, was just because of such an issue. Trailer was preloaded and the guy used straps to hold down some HVAC stuff which damaged it, because he couldn't use the spools/pockets to secure the chains to the steel attach points, because the rail was ripped from the pockets and loose. The one time I did have it bent, it started to rip the pocket at the top, but the chain prevented further movement before he stopped himself. I... got it repaired.staceydude, God prefers Diesels, cke and 1 other person Thank this.

I have seen brand new trailer with this type of damage.
I built two 5/16 chains 16ft long with pipe softeners that use a snap binder that lays flat.booley, PoleCrusher, staceydude and 5 others Thank this. -
I've had 2 places bend and break my pipe stakes trying to shove 102" worth of pipe between them because they just can't math how my pipe stakes reduce the useable width of a 102" trailer lol. Luckily they were chained. Loaded another place that insisted I remove my chains. I have considered making up a set of stakes out of PVC. I could even complete the package with some plastic chain. At least when the plastic breaks it won't ruin my trailer/day, and it's not like 2 steel stakes will stop a load from coming off anyway, it's all just to appease the bean counters imo.staceydude, W923, Tug Toy and 4 others Thank this.
