If you are going to take that dozer thru Alabama, the blade is supposed to be facing the rear, by law.

I have no patience for that kind of BS. If I wanted to sit and wait around I could go back to reefer. Never sign confirmation that says all rate final,.. no detention implied or paid. If I'm hung out to dry, I want someone to pay for my time. Broker can bill the shipper.
Hurstpeterbilt_2005 and ReeferOhio Thank this. -
And too late,.. already hit the scale after Meridian, got green light,.. didnt even pull me in to ask for permits and now in Ga for the night.
But thanks and good to know. I didnt load them,.. the shippers did. Though I am perfectly capable,.. I am finish grade dozer and loader operator. Even so,.. I'm not twisting that thing on my deck. It can ride like it is,.. I'll be at delivery by 11am.

When I got out of trucking back in the 90's I went into construction. Did earth work for housing developments up north and ran a pipe crew when I moved down to Fla. Almost 16 yrs of construction.
Have only been back to trucking since 2011. And was not by choice. Happier now then when I first started. Huge learning curve for me. I was used to the old school ways and that was what I expected when I returned. Trying to make the best of everything and hopefully continue to maintain things.

Usually when you hit a scale and your over on an axle,.. they will let you move the load (Equipment) in order to make your axle weight correct. Not allowed to unload the machine to the ground. So was saying if DOT got me at a scale,.. my only option would be to twist it on the deck. As you know,.. I'll eat the fine before ripping my deck up,.. probably cheaper. LOL

You have been busy Hurts. Loads look good. Had a customer ask one of our drivers that delivered some concrete pipe to them it they wanted a back haul and they wanted to put a D8 on a step deck.... LOL
I told the boss, "Well you did want another lowboy!"
You know some sheets of plywood ripped length wise in half will save your deck some from those tracks if you use it under them when running down the deck. Some of the stuff we pick up from the loggers you would NEVER put on a trailer without 2 inches of wood under it. They have ice grousers welded on the tracks. Man can they tear #### up. We even use the wood on the lowboys to keep from tearing the deck up.Hurst and peterbilt_2005 Thank this. -

The D61 on me now is sitting up at 13'9. I couldnt imagine a D8 up there. Not sure about your step,.. mine is rated for 80k lbs with reinforced braces. I was nervous with this D61 as its on the outer edges of deck,.. not touching the main frame at all. So the outer bracing is whats taking most of the weight right now. At least with coils they ride on the frame.
Normally I would not put a tracked machine on my bed unless it was a small excavator or skid steer with rubber tracks. But these 2 paid very good,.. the smaller D39 didnt even mark up my deck. The D61 has made a few nicks coming on, so yeah you are right,.. if I do any more of these I'm going to need to do something to protect the deck,.. it wont last if I do too many of these.
The real fun is when I deliver tomorrow. No loading dock at construction site,... that D61 is coming down on my ramps. I did a John Deer 220 last summer that cracked the ledge that my ramp sits on. Had to have it welded. I had them reinforce both sides with some extra welding and havent had any problems since. Hopefully this dozer doesent destroy my ramps. Theoretically they are rated for a combined 50k lbs. So should (knock on wood) be ok.
