I’ve yet to ever do an oversize. I see 10’ wide plates on DAT all the time but I’ve never attempted to get them. I briefly looked into getting a permit but when you google it only ads show up offering to get you the permit for a fee of course. I should try it some time.

Permits are not difficult. Most states have permits on line now. Can always call and have them sent to the shipper. Most are used to that. Have a credit card ready. If the broker is doing a lot of business with the shipper, they may even get the permits sometimes. Just depends.God prefers Diesels, Kyle G., CAXPT and 2 others Thank this.

There is a book available at any truckstop. It’s like an oversize “bible”. Tells you all the different states rules and regulations. And where to get permits. You’ll need signs, flags, beacons. Permits can be purchased online in many states or you can use a permit service for a fee.
I used to do most of my own permits but fortunately I don’t have to deal with that stuff anymoreGod prefers Diesels, Kyle G., CAXPT and 2 others Thank this. -
Been a while since I’ve done one of these. About 25 years.

I looked at that website. Trying to figure out beacon requirements as some websites no flashing yellow lights are required in Texas and some say they are required. And on truck or trailer who knows. I booked my first oversize load and nervous. I’ve been trucking almost 2 decades.
