well normally we have a patch kit, but that hole was about 2 feet in length.

there is actually a smaller tarp on the back side of the hole that i stuffed in there just to cover up product in that area just in case the duct tape didn’t hold or leaked.

Their is a major oil company in the gulf of Mexico that will only give you a Haz-Mat bill of lading from the original shipper.
If the crew does not fill one out on their way home they will call and have one e-mailed to them.
They will not sign anything thinking the will have NO liability if things go South.

I'd probably tarp it if it's going a long distance. Not because anybody says so but because that shrink wrap is gonna be gone in 500 miles and if that happens, you are going to be fighting those bags to keep from falling off the rest of the trip. Just my 2 cents to save yourself pain . And that's probably why the customer is requesting a tarp as well..

I don't disagree with not tarping because shipper doesn't allow it... but I think sometimes you just have to look out for yourself as well. Could tarp it in 30 mins and not have to worry about it rest of the trip.. Just depends how far it's going.

It would seem to me a company that doesn't let you tarp on property would be even more liable for someone getting hurt, since not only do they not provide tarping facilities, but kick the driver off the property making them tarp in an even more unsafe situation.. Im not a lawyer but seems like it would be hard to defend that argument... I mean in the grand scheme of things how hard is it to build a couple metal beams with a safety harness up top...surely the company is doing millions of dollars in business

Let’s just say that respect of tribal elders in Thermopolis is a requirement if you want to enjoy your stay even if they say cruel, hurtful things about your rope horse and leave it at that

Start tarping. If they stop you, tell them to take the load off, and inform the customer that they refused to ship the load as ordered with a tarp. :) Or do it outside the gate if you want. This is just their way of trying to eliminate their liability for not having a tarping station on site, and avoiding injury claims. :)
Or you could go Nuclear on them, and block their gate as you leave to tarp on their entry point. Then they lose productivity while you do it off their immediate property. :)
