Laredo to Grand Junction CO. Eye to the sky coils. 9,200 lbs each. Nothing special. I still need to get better at tarping.

Two other trucks got loaded exactly like mine and they both did 1 strap per coil over the tarp. Should expect to see them on the fails thread soon.

Another good sunset and this is the average flatbed I pull , you can see why I say they belong in a junkyard...lol Easy loads though just to Litchfield and I usually get paid the same to bring the empty flat to Gwinner so it makes it worth it. I IMG_20230508_210808948.jpg

Some things just won't tarp well. :)
Do make sure you're taking US 191 up to I 70 to get to Grand Junction, and avoid US 550 Million Dollar Mile in Colorado to get to Grand Junction, or get prepared for one hell of a white knuckle ride. :(

Way too late my dude. Co-114 to us50 said it’s a truck route in atlas and saves like 100 miles. Lots of regret. Got some crazy videos though.

Did you stay on 50 or go 114?

Laredo to Santa Fe NM. North on us-285. Turned left on CO-114 and in Saguache I went west to US-50

edit: I see I got us50 and us550 confused by the other poster

550 is also listed as a truck route. Have used it on occasion. Not something I do willingly.

There is a US-50 construction bypass, CO-92, would have put you in Delta. Usable road. Slow in some spots.

Lucky you, you avoided it, although I'm sure the route you took wasn't much better, but at least you weren't looking down the side of a sheer cliff, which you would have had, if you went via US 550. White Knuckle ride was avoided. :) That route is also listed as a truck route, in Colorado, and yet amazingly, the US 550 in New Mexico (at the time I was driving it) isn't listed as a truck route, yet it is a multilane highway on relatively level ground. :)
