I have no complaints about your ways of securements, actually seems easier, however, with the regulations, aren’t the loads required to have 2 securements the first 10 feet and 1 securement every 10 feet after that ?NoBigHurry, CAXPT, cke and 2 others Thank this.

@Diesel Dave I questioned this myself and I believe (and could be wrong) as long as there’s enough securement for length and weight, I’m good. Those channels were 50’, I used 6 straps. When I was hauling precast, we would only put our tie downs near the dunnage to avoid the risk of cracking the concrete. I actually had quite a discussion with a DOT officer about this a few years ago (and didn’t get written up)
We’re probably bending the rules a little bit here (I’m putting the straps near the dunnage so I don’t bend the steel
) but it’s about a 20 minute trip and using those large corner protectors and the straps close together goes pretty quick. I had a trooper catch up to me the other day and he matched my speed for a few minutes as though he was checking me out. Eventually he continued on his way…to my relief.

yes you are right. only need them for every 10ft worth of freight..not every 10 ft in continuum.. so 50ft of freight needs 6 straps like you said.. doesnt matter where they are, just that there is 6 of them...commonly misunderstood rule... i dont remember who posted that regulation on here awhile back, but it has been posted beforeNoBigHurry, krupa530, CAXPT and 7 others Thank this.

I do the same since most of my loads local, pushing it……. I believe we have some loop holes we can get away with.
