I see a lot of heavier equipment on stepdecks anymore.

Last year I was loading a dead 138 Komatsu at the auction ground in Florida, guy comes in with a stepdeck and backs up to the dock, guy runs a Cat D6N LGP up on it for him.

I pull through the gate and park on the side, guy pulls up behind me and jumps out with his tape measure and starts measuring the blade width. He then walks up to me and ask if I knew how to operate that dozer…. he was a furner from some other country, very difficult to understand!

Sticking to my roots I agree to help and angle the blade for him to minimize the overall width. It’s still over 12’ angled, like 12’-3”, he gets on the phone with the broker trying to explain it’s still over 12’. Guy ask me to talk to the broker since the broker spoke in English as we know it.

Broker starts getting frustrated when I explain the blade is still over 12’ angled, hey, I can’t help that you don’t know what you’re asking someone to haul, should have that all figured out before you jump in the pot.

On my way to Xenia, Ohio for a 941, stay safe out there….

I don't know if it's still that way ,but oversized blade to the front was a big no no in Alabama and Tennessee. It may have changed, I always load the blade to the rear anyway. Guess he'll find out if he's headed that way.

How do you get the straps through those? Have a pipe with a hook on one end?
