Those tires are rated similar to most fullsize 22.5/24.5 tires so he is allowed the same 40K lbs as most other spread axle trailers.

Thanks, that's handy then, in the UK we did have spread axles way back in the '80s I suppose it was, but never on small wheels like that.
As an aside, many drivers who ventured across Europe and beyond in those boom days discovered the 'hole in the ground' toilets often found there. These required you to place your feet on raised footpads in the porcelain with your bare bum crouched over the hole. For those who ventured further beyond Turkey in desert areas often not even these were available and the drivers took to crouching under their trailers between the spread of the axles..
Thus that kind of toilet became known as 'spead axles' and if you ever meet a veteran of that era and explain to him that your trailer has 'spread-axles' you will realise why a nostalgic expression passes over his face. :biggrin_1square7:

I had lots or work like that first picture at Econofreight, not so much plant as in the 2nd one though. When I started there, straight from more normal flat deck general haulage, I was sent out almost immediately without any training with a split trailer as in the 2nd pic. No problem loading it with various bits of plant but had to work out for myself the mechanics of the donkey engine etc. to split and recover it. Same with my first 60 foot and 70 foot, wide, high and long. This was back in the '70s and I found it much more interesting than the usual pallet loads and roping and sheeting. My trainer was good, but he was learning the ropes himself. His name was Spardo. ;):)
I doubt such a system is in place these days.
