The law only says how many you have to have depending on length/weight. It says nothing about how close or far apart they are.
Specifically 393.110(b)(3):
(3) Two tiedowns if the article is longer than 10 feet (3.04 meters), and one additional tiedown for every 10 feet (3.04 meters) of article length, or fraction thereof, beyond the first 10 feet (3.04 meters) of length.

They are railroad ties.
@CAXPT the straps are all situated between the studs welded to the top flange, is that isolation enoughCAXPT, cke, exhausted379 and 3 others Thank this. -
Thats why I asked have only seen that metal square on ends of ties.
My oak boards take a beating on big thick wall pipe and and offshore rig beams.
The railroad ties would work well but to heavy to move... Thank you -
